Bricofer has been the leading Italian D.I.Y. supplier for over 35 years with 20 direct sales points, 35 partners, 25,000 referrals, 400 suppliers and a vast product range.
Most sales points are customer led with assistance available when and where required. There are also some traditional, over the counter sales points. Bricofer has been operating in Viterbo since 2006, but as the business grew it became clear that a larger floor space was necessary and the decision was taken to move to a local business park at the end of March 20015. The new premises has 2,500 m2 of sales space and 1,000 m2 of external showroom space for the gardening and building sectors.
The Challenge
Bricofer had experienced difficulties in databasesychronization regarding item codification; making a technology based solution imperative. The solution would need to revolutionize the loading of goods and use mobile terminals to be accessible everywhere. Picking lists needed to be made directly at the shelves with the creation of client offers/orders from the terminal (assisted by the operator), printing all necessary labelling, product codes, signage, technical specifications and offers (especially useful when setting up a new store).
The Solution
After carefully studying the options available on the Auto ID market, Bricofer chose K.F.I. as the best consultant for the implementation of a centralized warehouse management system. Every operator is connected through the remote desktop (by PC or mobile terminal) to a single server for all back office operations. The Dolphin is a lightweight and versatile portable computer with advanced data collection wireless technology for on-premises application in areas like retail sales and light industry supply chain. Its bar-code reader outdoes the performance of laser technology and the 54 key keyboard adapt perfectly to every users individual approach, easing data input. It has been designed to be used under challenging conditions and so features IP54 protection, is resistant to dust, dirt and jets of water as well as accidental falls from up to 1.2
meters.
The standard 3300mAh battery with ShiftPlus management technology guarantees 10 hours of autonomy even under constant use. The adjustable handle is useful when scanning high volumes of goods, such as during warehouse management or re-stocking and leads to an overall increase in productivity. The simplicity of set-up in Kiosk mode predicts changes to be made by the operator and in so doing, improves data precision and security.
The Results
Greater operator efficiency meaning better service to the client.
The Dolphin terminal is not only used in sales point warehouses but is a crucial support for all Bricofer operators. There are currently 5 terminals active in Viterbo and 4 in Pesaro. Using the Honeywell Dolphin 6500 means Bricofer can import sales data, with updated stock numbers and product availability, on line and in real time and avoid transferring data between databases, risking losing or deforming digital information. The Dolphin 6500 is the perfect combination of reliability and performance, and guarantees a rapid return on the investment made.
Testimonial
“Before opting for the most suited solution, K.F.I. allowed us to test various mobile terminals from the biggest international names” says Roberto Delle Cese, Bricofer General Manager. “The best choice was deemed to be the Dolphin 6500 Honeywell 54
key Imager which has all the characteristics we were looking for, ergonomic, light and very quick to implement once sales point wi-fi is in place.”
